Duct Probe Smoke Detector Overview

A HVAC system supplies conditioned air to virtually every part of a building. Any smoke introduced into this air duct system is thus spread to the entire building. The Duct Probe is designed such that samples of air passing through the duct are constantly monitored by the inside Optical Smoke Detector. When suffi-cient smoke is sensed, an alarm signal is initiated at the Fire Alarm Control Panel monitoring the detector, and appropriate action can be taken to shut off fans and blowers and change over air handling system, etc. This can isolate toxic smoke and fire gases or prevent their distribution throughout the areas served by the duct system.
