Define: What Is Smoke Detector?

Smoke detectors are a crucial component of early fire warning systems, primarily providing early warning of smoke buildup during the initial stages of a fire. There are different kinds of smoke detectors based on their connection method, they can be categorized as addressable smoke detectorsconventional smoke detectors, optical smoke detector and wireless smoke detectors. While different systems cannot be interconnected, multiple linkable smoke detectors can be connected within the same system. This article focuses on programmable smoke detectors. For information on other types, please click the blue text above.

why is my smoke detector beeping

The TX3190 standalone wireless smoke detector lighting rules are based on both smoke detection and alarm functions. Because it can be used both standalone and in a LoRa-connected environment, different indicator lights and sound patterns appear in different states:

When used with a standalone base, the alarm settings are as follows:
Normal monitoring status: The red light flashes approximately every 60 seconds, and the buzzer remains silent.
Alarm status: The red light flashes rapidly, and the buzzer sounds.
Fault status:
Undervoltage fault: The yellow light flashes once every 50 seconds, and the buzzer sounds briefly.
Dust accumulation fault: The yellow light remains on, and the buzzer sounds briefly every 50 seconds.

When used with a LoRa-connected base, the IoT communication unit indicator light settings are as follows:
Normal monitoring status: The green light flashes approximately every 60 seconds.
Fault status: The yellow light flashes approximately every 60 seconds.

Wired Smoke Detector VS Wireless Smoke Detector

Comparison Dimensions Wired Smoke Alarm Wireless Smoke Alarm Standalone Smoke Alarm
Core Connection Method Connected to controller via physical wires (bus/multi-wire); wires handle both power supply and signal transmission Communicates via wireless signals LoRa; powered by batteries No external connections; operates independently; powered by built-in batteries
Positioning Accuracy Addressable models can pinpoint individual devices; traditional models only locate zones/circuits Single-point positioning possible with address coding; accuracy affected by signal strength No positioning function; only indicates alarm in "the area where the device is located"
Linkage Function Can link with fire systems (sprinklers, smoke extraction) and audio-visual devices for global response Supports wireless linkage; can trigger local or remote alarms No linkage function; only emits audio-visual alarms itself
Applicable Scenarios Medium to large buildings (office buildings, shopping malls, hotels), places requiring centralized management Wiring-difficult scenarios (ancient buildings, warehouses), retrofit projects, temporary venues Small independent spaces (homes, small shops, dormitories), scenarios without linkage needs
Typical Advantages Stable signal, strong anti-interference, suitable for long-term large-scale operation Flexible installation, low retrofit cost, suitable for complex environment deployment Extremely low cost, ready-to-use, suitable for basic fire prevention needs

where to mount smoke detectors

1, The TX3190 battery smoke detector can be installed on the ceiling, on the wall, or below the ceiling. However, the installation method depends on local regulations. For example, some regulations allow for both wall and ceiling mounting, so the TX3190 wireless smoke detectors can be installed this way. For example, see the figure below:

wall-ceiling-mount-smoke-detector
TXC7101 smoke detector coverage area

3, The coverage of a TXC7101 fire smoke detector is closely related to ground clearance:

Typically, the detection radius for installations under * meters is 9 meters, covering an area of 100 square meters.
the detection radius for installations between 6 and 12 meters is 6.7 meters, covering an area of 80 square meters.

The distance between two smoke detectors is designed according to local regulations.

how do you change the battery in a smoke detector

Replacing the battery in this standalone smoke detector is very simple. Since it can also be used as a wireless LoRa detector, the following battery replacement instructions are for both standalone and LoRa models:
1. Standalone Model:
1.1. Remove the base.
1.2. Press a screwdriver against the side opening to pry open the bottom cover.
1.3. Replace the battery and reinstall the base.
2. Wireless LoRa Model:
2.1. The wireless LoRa model has an additional wireless connection base, unlike the standalone model. The battery in the wireless base must be replaced separately.
